My writing credits:

  • I earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and worked as a writer-in-residence and creative writing professor at St. Lawrence University. Yaddo artists' colony granted me a residency.
  • My short fiction has won top awards from Barnard College and from the Poets and Writers Exchange.
  • Recently, an illustrated story of mine appeared in Narrative Magazine and a story from "The Doorwoman," a noir novel, appeared in the anthology Austin Noir
  • I placed three times as a finalist and semifinalist in the Screencraft Cinematic Short Story Contest.
  • My short fiction has been published in, among other places: The Southern Review, The Antioch Review, Ascent, New Texas, and Madison Smartt Bell's anthology, Narrative Design.
  • My nonfiction has appeared in Narrative, Ladies' Home Journal, The North American Review, the Austin American-Statesman, and the anthology Stricken: the 5,000 Stages of Grief. The Ladies' Home Journal piece won a national health journalism award.
  • My writing has been described as "poignant," "nuanced," and having a "sly humor."
